Lee Roy Selmon blends the benefits of a football scholarship within his family and volunteering in the community. First of all Selmon was born with Lucious Semon and his wife Jessie, on an agricultural property near Eufala located in Oklahoma as the youngest of the nine children they had. The second football was that Selmon is the youngest of three brothers to play with Oklahoma. Three of them made All-America. They made the All-America team in 1973. Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the starters for one year. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's most effective lineman. Over the course of three seasons, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy being the starting player. They also won the national title twice. Selmon was honored when the National Football Foundation named him a Scholar-Athlete for the third time in the year 1975. Selmon holds a bachelor's degree in education. Lee Roy was involved in voluntary work for 10 hours a week throughout his college years. Then he settled in Tampa following college. He played with the Buccaneers for nine years and was three-times all-pro. His career in business began. The year 1988 was the first time he worked as an Account Relation Manager in the First Florida Bank in Tampa. He worked for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as well as the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce honored Lee Roy in 1982 for being among the top 10 youths from the United States. While a student Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighed about 256 pounds. He coached his university team in the year 1975. In 1993, he joined the university of south Florida's athletic department as its associate director. He was named to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1993 by the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994, as well as in the Pro Football Hall of Fame of 1995. The Selmons' parents Lucious as well as Mary Selmon, Jr. were awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. Henry Bellmon the Governor of Oklahoma made the presentation.
