Swift is shedding her country roots like they were second skins revealing herself to be the smartest pop singer/songwriter within her generation. She is able to tap into the current trend and turn it into her own. Swift's early songs, including the neo tribute to Tim McGraw, showed off her skills. But her 2008 album Fearless showed a singer-songwriter who was beginning to discover herself, and was able to draw a wide audience. Fearless became a massive success not just in America and six of the singles have been certified platinum in the wake of Top Ten hit songs Love Story and you Belong with Me. But it also smashed records across all over the world. Swift's new album, Speak Now, released nearly two years following the debut, further consolidated this momentum. It helped propel Swift into the spotlight. In the three albums following the three albums that followed -- Red 2012 1989, Red 2012 and Reputation 2017, Swift's fame only grew. This was a sure indication that she was in an entirely new world of pop that she could be part of. Although she slowed down her approach with 2020's stripped-down sister album folklore, and Evermore she remained atop the world of pop, a position she kept with the re-recordings of her older catalogs as well as Midnights the top charting synth heavy 2022 set.
