Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington has been an Greek American columnist, author and entrepreneur for more than twenty years. She co-founded The Huffington Post, is the founder and CEO of Thrive Global as well an writer of 15 novels. Arianna Huffington is an author TV personality, philanthropist, and the owner of the independent liberal online news magazine The Huffington Post. She emigrated out of Greece to England when she was 16 years old, and earned an MA at Cambridge University in Economics. The first non-English student, she was elected president of The Cambridge Union' at age 21. After after her college graduation, she became a prominent Conservative syndicated journalist. A few more years later she created The Huffington Post which featured critiques of the current political landscape. Her fame led to the recruitment of a number of well-known contributors for posting their views on current events, politics and culture. Arianna was famous in 2003, when she ran as an independent in California recall election to succeed Governor Davis. In addition, she was the leader of an Detroit project to promote the use of fuel-efficient cars. In 2009 she was named by Forbes as one of the top women in media gaining 12th position in the listing and the following year the Guardian named her to the top 100 media list. AOL Inc. acquired The Huffington Post, and she was named president of this media group. The acquisition included a number of AOL properties of the time such as Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. Her parents were Elli as well as Konstantinos Stasinopoulos, a management consultant and journalist. She was extremely close to her father. But it was her bond with her mother who formed her. She showed leadership traits throughout her childhood. When she was 16 years old, she moved over in her home in United Kingdom for her higher education. At Girton College Cambridge. In her college years she was a member of Cambridge Union. Cambridge Union debating group where she rose to become the first female president and sole foreign president. She graduated in 1972 with an advanced degree in Economics. She became a writer, a critic, a TV host and a columnist after her graduation. Her appearance on Face the music with Bernard Levin was also notable. She began to write books and enlisting his assistance in editing.
