Lars Mikkelsen-3-1024x657Lars Dittmann Mikkelsen (born 6 May 1964) is an actor from Denmark. Danish actor. He has appeared as Troels Hartmann (Copenhagen mayoral election candidate) in The Killing and [1] Charles Augustus Magnussen (third series of Sherlock), the Russian president Viktor Petrov on Netflix's American House of Cards, and Grand Admiral Thrawn from Star Wars Rebels. He was awarded the Reumert Prize of Honour in 2011, aged of 27. In 1995, he was accepted to the National Theatre School of Denmark. Apart from his role in The Killing, [1] the actor also appeared in Borgen III, a Danish drama which was highly acclaimed. He also played a central role in an episode on BBC drama Sherlock, where he played the blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen. In the American television series House of Cards he played the President of Russia. In 2018, he was awarded an International Emmy Award for his role as the lead character on the Danish television drama Herrensveje. The show was telecast in the UK as Ride Upon the Storm in 2019.
